 Louisiana Society of Certified Public Managers®
The Louisiana Society of Certified Public Managers® (LSCPM) continues to work toward its long term business plan. Last year we shared with the Academy our plan to conduct some of our meetings by teleconference. We are pleased to state that this concept has been a success and we have been able to double the membership attendance at quarterly meetings. Members in New Orleans and Monroe have been able to connect with the conference site in Baton Rouge for two major meetings this year. And, our President-Elect Gail Gibson, who lives and works in New Orleans, attends monthly board meetings by teleconference, saving her lots of time and gasoline. We hope that the continuation and expansion of this activity will encourage the development of LSCPM chapters in cities outside of Baton Rouge.
We have upgraded our website, and enhanced our committee structure. Nancy DeWitt is chairing our archives committee and writing a history of the LSCPM.
Presently we are preparing for our Annual Conference entitled "Leadership & Workforce Development: Creating A Great Place To Work" to be held on November 4, 2004. After conferring with both elected and appointed state leaders, we used their ideas to develop conference topics which they felt were critical. The seminars for this year's conference will focus on the Organizational Approach of Six Sigma, Great Managers and Leadership, Knowledge Transfer & Management Through Effective Communications, Succession Planning and Generational Diversity, Great Managers' Coaching & Mentoring for Workforce Development, and Delegation As A Succession Planning Tool.
