Mark Your Calendar for the 17th Annual AACPM Professional Development Conference in New Hampshire in September 2005
The New Hampshire Association of Certified Public Managers® (NHACPM) is hard at work planning for the 2005 AACPM Professional Development Conference. The conference site is Manchester, New Hampshire, at the Radisson Center of New Hampshire, a central location in the Granite State's largest city surrounded by lots of activities and good restaurants. The Events Committee is busy planning a very special trip. The hotel provides free shuttle from the airport—a bonus for all of us.
The theme for the conference is "Achieving Greatness in Public Management—Climb to New Heights." Track names are based on the wonders of nature in New Hampshire: Old Man in the Mountain—Leadership/Management; Seasonal Colors—The Brilliance of Change; and Liquid Gold of New Hampshire—Maple Syrup/Managing our Most Valuable Resource, The Employee. The call for presentations has gone out with a promise of good breakout groups and opportunity to share information with others.
This is a first time event for AACPM of co-locating with a second conference—the National Association of Government Training and Development (NAGTAD). Arrangements are being worked out to share plenary speakers, meet public management educators and gain new friends. New Hampshire has been enjoying working with them in preparation for the conference. Another opportunity for this conference is the relationship the NHACPM has with Springfield College. They are sending out information to contacts to gain potential speakers. Believe me, from a previous experience between NHACPM and Springfield College there were wonderful speakers and folks that worked very hard with our Society to put on a wonderful conference.
This year the foliage was spectacular—we can only hope that the change to fall will be beginning while you are visiting. The conference site is within one hour of Boston, the ocean, Vermont and the mountains. Plan on extra time to enjoy the country. Maybe you will even get a chance to see a moose!
