Ohio Society of Certified Public Managers®
For the Ohio CPM Society, the fall months have proven to the busiest and most rewarding of 2004. Since our last update, the Society has elected its 2005 officers, held its annual professional development conference, awarded Askew Awards, Awards of Excellence and named the 2004 Ohio CPM of the Year. We have also awarded our first two scholarships that were bestowed upon two current, second-year students, who both expended significant personal dollars to attend the Ohio CPM courses.
We are also within weeks of selecting the 2008 site for the 20th annual AACPM Professional Development Conference.
The Society has also been working to heighten the presence and value of the Society to new CPM students who are entering the program. We have recently visited several new “cohorts” to commend their decision to become CPMs and to share information on the Society’s mission and to advocate use of our services—such as our mentoring program. For more information on all of these topics, please visit another of our 2004 accomplishments of which we are proud—our new website at www.ohiocpmsociety.org.
On our website, check out our October 20, 2004, member update which provides an overview of our 2004 efforts and/or check out monthly eNews which are also posted on our website—these resources developed for Ohio’s CPMs and CPM students, are also useful to persons who seek brief overviews of activities and items of interest occurring within the Ohio Society.
We also extend appreciation to the Ohio CPM program administration and University Partners who, in 2005, will assist the Society in realizing our new continuing education strategy for Ohio CPMs. Finally, be sure to also check out our strategic planning efforts in the “About Us” portion of the website; we have made significant strides with our 2004 work plan, which aligns with our strategic vision.
As this will be the final message from the 2004 Ohio CPM Society board, we would like extend our best wishes to all states’ societies and applaud your efforts to provide services and support to the CPMs and CPM students in your respective states. Like all of you, the Ohio CPM Society believes that we can make a positive difference for the citizens and customers that we serve.
