Seven members of the New Hampshire Association of Certified Public Managers® attended the AACPM 2006 Annual Conference  whose theme was "The New Realities, A Decade Later". The Conference was held in Louisville, Kentucky from September 10-12, 2006. Members enjoyed Kentucky hospitality as well as learning from speakers, sessions, and networking connections. The Monday evening trip down the Ohio River was great fun and the hotel was very accommodating!

The New Hampshire Association of Certified Public Managers® held their Annual Fall Conference on September 22, 2006 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester New Hampshire. The theme for this event was entitled "Bridging the Gaps on the Road to Achievement". Topics covered the many "gaps" that can occur in the course of business and how to effectively manage them.

Keynote speaker, Sam McKeeman, started the conference off covering various issues such as gaps in communication, generational gaps, cooperation, and creating "win-win" situations. Under the supervision of Mr. McKeeman, the group in attendance began their morning with a thumb wrestling match. Some attendees chose a competitive route in the game while others realized the potential for creating compromise and sharing. In any event, it started the day off with fun, laughter, and a great lesson in human nature!

Also attending this conference was Robinil Jameson, Board Member At Large for the American Academy of Certified Public Managers®. Robinil gave a wonderful welcome speech to begin the day pointing out the positive aspects of the New Hampshire Society. The NHACPM gives their many thanks to Robinil for  making the trip from Kentucky to New Hampshire to attend the conference. The Association was especially grateful to Robinil for she had just completed serving on the committee for the AACPM Annual Conference held in Kentucky two-weeks prior.

Strategic planning sessions for the NHACPM will begin on November 29, 2006. Strategies will be facilitated by Monika Bissell, Bureau Chief of the New Hampshire Division of Personnel, Bureau of Education and Training. Association members, second year CPM students, as well as non-association members are invited to attend. The focus will be on how to better serve members and entice new members in the coming years.

Elections for new board officers will begin soon. Nominations will be held first with the Elections to follow. Positions up for election are the Vice President, Treasurer, and Board Member-at-large. With new strategies, thoughts and ideas, the association hopes to move in a direction of growth.
