We hope you have marked your calendars and set your plans in motion to attend the 17th Annual AACPM Professional Development Conference on September 18 – 20 as we Climb to New Heights at the Center of New Hampshire, Radisson Hotel Manchester.
The Center of New Hampshire offers a convenient Manchester location an hour north of Boston and close to golf, shopping, historic attractions, theater and more. Manchester area attractions near the hotel include the Mall of New Hampshire, Currier Museum of Art, White Mountains and the New Hampshire seacoast.
New Hampshire is known for hosting the First-in-the-Nation Presidential Primary, and the AACPM Conference will host a number of “firsts”: the first AACPM Conference to be held in New England; the first shortened conference to two-and-a-half days; the first to accept credit cards for payment of registration fees; and the first to co-locate with the annual conference of the National Association of Government Training and Development (NAGTAD).
Click here for current registration information and submit yours as soon as you can to ensure your spot at the Center of New Hampshire, Radisson Hotel. The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has been very gracious in providing information for attendees on local attractions and will be present during the conference to help with directions, eating establishments and the many opportunities the city has to offer. A huge plus for all travelers is the free airport shuttle service the hotel offers to those attendees flying into the Manchester Airport. The staff at the hotel has been exceptional to work with and want to very much please conference attendees with an A+ experience and attitude in New Hampshire.
Speakers are lined up and will cover current topics including bioterrism, on-line learning, archiving digital data, succession planning to name just a few. Three of our speakers, all very popular and who get rave reviews, are on the staff of Springfield College, which has partnered with us in planning previous NHACPM state conferences. There are no repeat sessions, which means you will need to get to the breakout session of choice early to assure a seat.
Sunday evening is set aside to honor the 25th Anniversary of the National CPM Consortium. There is an extra fee, but well worth the cost to honor the founders of the programs that ultimately led to the establishment of our own Academy. The New Hampshire Conference Team encourages you to support this group of hard-working folks and visionaries who keep our programs supported!
Events are planned for the Saturday prior to the conference right through the last day. Some of these events are a shopping trip to the Tanger Outlet Stores in Tilton, (remember, New Hampshire has no sales tax), tours of museums, the brewery, and the famous seacoast City of Portsmouth with a meal and entertainment at one of the favorite local restaurants on the coast. For the antique lovers, there will be information available and directions to Antique Alley. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the viewing site of the Old Man in the Mountain.
The weather in New Hampshire at that time can be from warm to chilly, but, have no fear, as the conference committee has selected a windbreaker jacket with the conference logo for the great occasion. The cost is $25.00; please contact Pat Gagne at pgagne@safety.state.nh.us to preorder.
Plan extra time in New Hampshire – some areas will have had their first frost, leaves may be starting to change, County Fairs are taking place every weekend through Columbus Day, apples should be getting ready for picking, and plan to visit historic and restored Shaker Village and Strawberry Bank. Also, the Scottish Highland games will be held 30 minutes away from Manchester the following weekend.
We are looking forward to visiting with you and showing off our beautiful state. Please join us as the NH Association of Certified Public Managers® host the 17th Annual AACPM Professional Development Conference.
