We started the year with our first membership meeting in February. Our speaker was from the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. The speaker had an excellent and informative presentation on identity theft. He covered topics ranging from how to avoid being a victim to what to do if you become a victim.
Kansas decided to focus our community service on one organization – Ronald McDonald House Charities. We selected Ronald McDonald House Charities since they have locations throughout Kansas in the hope that members living outside of the Topeka area could also participate at a local Ronald McDonald House location. In doing so, we will continue to collect the aluminum can tabs. In addition, Ronald McDonald House Charities staff said they are always looking for volunteers to prepare meals for the guests. So, we are looking into preparing a meal once a month. More information will be coming with the opportunity to sign up to help with the meal preparation.
We are currently in the planning stages for a CPM Reunion. The Reunion will be held in conjunction with a seminar. The theme of the half-day seminar deals with partnerships in action – building bridges.
The Kansas chapter continues to look for creative ways to involve and educate our members. We welcome an exchange of ideas with any and all other local organizations. Please contact us through our Web page or by e-mailing me directly at rkb@srskansas.org.
