Conferences and Communications
I am running for the Academy Board Position of "Member at
Large" for Conferences and Communication. This position is
responsible for publications, conferences and marketing for the
Academy. With my experience as the Strategic Communications Manager
for the City of Yuma tying in directly with this position, I feel
I can assist the academy to continue to grow in the areas of communication
with our members by continuing to expand the accessibility and readability
of the CPM Connection and the Academys website as well as
provide guidance to make our upcoming conferences beneficial to
our entire membership.
What background/qualifications do I bring to this position? My
daily duties with the City of Yuma, Arizona consist of marketing
and communication in one of the fastest growing communities in the
country. I oversee the operation of government television channel(s)
as well as an award winning website. I have been an active member
of the Academy for over 10 years. I have attended six AACPM conferences
and was a devoted member of the small, dedicated committee that
planned and executed the 2001 Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Listed below are some of my career highlights:

Over 20 years experience in Public Service, with numerous
performance awards including Manager of the Year, 5 - Spotlight
Awards, 2 - S.T.A.R Awards, 2 - Volunteer Awards and 5 nominations
for Employee of the Year.

Active on both the Academy and Society Levels including, 4
terms as Society President, Society Membership Chair, Society
Vice President, Society Board Member, Member of the Academy
Publications and Conference Committees, Henning Award Committee,
Academy Accreditation Review Committee and a Henning Award Nominee.

Active in the local community including terms as President
of Arizonas oldest service club (Yuma Kiwanis Club), Charter
President of the Kiwanis Club of the Foothills, Chairman of
the Yuma Heritage Area Task Force, Chairman of the Riverfront
Task Force, Founding Chairman of the Yuma Community Marketing
Group, Member of the Yuma Strategic Planning Project, and Founding
Board Member of the National Alliance of Gateway Communities.
I have the experience and dedication needed for this position.
