Candidate for Member at Large
Conferences and Communications

I am running for the Academy Board Position of "Member at Large" for Conferences and Communication. This position is responsible for publications, conferences and marketing for the Academy. With my experience as the Strategic Communications Manager for the City of Yuma tying in directly with this position, I feel I can assist the academy to continue to grow in the areas of communication with our members by continuing to expand the accessibility and readability of the CPM Connection and the Academy’s website as well as provide guidance to make our upcoming conferences beneficial to our entire membership.

What background/qualifications do I bring to this position? My daily duties with the City of Yuma, Arizona consist of marketing and communication in one of the fastest growing communities in the country. I oversee the operation of government television channel(s) as well as an award winning website. I have been an active member of the Academy for over 10 years. I have attended six AACPM conferences and was a devoted member of the small, dedicated committee that planned and executed the 2001 Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Listed below are some of my career highlights:

  • Over 20 years experience in Public Service, with numerous performance awards including Manager of the Year, 5 - Spotlight Awards, 2 - S.T.A.R Awards, 2 - Volunteer Awards and 5 nominations for Employee of the Year.

  • Active on both the Academy and Society Levels including, 4 terms as Society President, Society Membership Chair, Society Vice President, Society Board Member, Member of the Academy Publications and Conference Committees, Henning Award Committee, Academy Accreditation Review Committee and a Henning Award Nominee.

  • Active in the local community including terms as President of Arizona’s oldest service club (Yuma Kiwanis Club), Charter President of the Kiwanis Club of the Foothills, Chairman of the Yuma Heritage Area Task Force, Chairman of the Riverfront Task Force, Founding Chairman of the Yuma Community Marketing Group, Member of the Yuma Strategic Planning Project, and Founding Board Member of the National Alliance of Gateway Communities.

I have the experience and dedication needed for this position. I humbly ask for your support and sincerely appreciate this opportunity to serve the Academy members.
