AACPM Spells Commitment
By Debbie Smith, CPM
debbie.smith@okdhs.org
Well maybe not literally and in so many letters; but it does spell commitment: in leadership, management, fiscal and ethical responsibility to the public and membership we serve. If you have thought about serving at the national level, make this the year you act. Dreams and thoughts without action are meaningless. The success of the Academy is a direct result of the drive and quality of individuals elected to lead it.
The Academy’s Officers and Board Members serve as trustees to our commitment to public service as an honorable calling and to the Academy as a moral, economically viable and dynamic organization. Don’t accept the status quo, commit to building a stronger CPM future. Begin by clicking on the hot link below and complete the nomination form. Your state society will feel tremendously honored and will be a mountain of support during your term.
This year there are three (3) Board seats up for election. The positions are President-Elect, Treasurer and Member-at-Large/Conferences and Communications. The President-Elect’s position is a three-year commitment (one year as President-elect, one year as President and one year as Past President), while the terms for Treasurer and Member-at-Large are both two-years in length. The election will be conducted as part of the annual House of Delegates (HOD) meeting on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky with service beginning on January 1, 2007.
Remember; July 1, 2006 is nearing quickly and it is becoming more serious for you to act and commit your leadership skills, talent, and experience, in service to the Academy. You will find information elsewhere in this Newsletter and in the Academy’s By-Laws (posted on the Web Page www.cpmacademy.org) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regarding the service opportunities and the positions that will be on the 2006 ballot.
And remember—AACPM spells commitment to a strong Public Management future!
