By Larry Gordon, CPM

As of May 1, the Academy has 875 members with 11 State Societies reporting. This puts the Academy at 50% of its membership goal of 1750 for 2006. At this time last year the membership stood at 615 with seven states reporting. It’s understood that many of the state membership drives are just now being completed and those societies will be submitting their rosters soon. Reminder to Society Officers, when you report your membership roster, please use the preformatted spreadsheets that were handed out at the 2005 Annual Conference. If you require another copy please contact me or Robinil Jameson, Board Member at Large for Member Affairs.
The Independent Auditor’s Review for FY 2005 has been completed. The Academy’s net assets have increased to $81,352, up from $64,151 in 2004. The gain in revenue is attributed to the successful 2004 Topeka, KS, and 2005 Manchester, NH, annual conferences, both closing their books in FY 2005. The Budget Comparison Report will soon be published in both the AACPM 2005 Annual Report and the financial report that will be distributed to the House of Delegates (HOD) meeting in Louisville, KY. The reviewing firm of Holcomb & Shreeve, Certified Public Accountants, P.C., in Gilbert, AZ, state in its opinion letter that: “Based on our reviews we are not aware of any material modifications that should be made to the accompanying financial statements in order for them to be in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.” The firm also prepared the Academy’s Federal Tax Return for 2005.
With the annual conference being held in the fall, a significant portion of the Academy’s annual expenses will be incurred late in the year. The Academy’s FY 2006 budget is currently well within the parameters set by the HOD. Fourteen societies have paid their annual assessment fees.
