The Academy is still accepting nominations for qualified, motivated and interested candidates to run for Board positions for the 2008 election to be conducted as part of the annual House of Delegates (HOD) meeting on September 10th in Columbus, Ohio. I am pleased to report that as of this writing, we have a nomination for each position. However, the goal of the Board of Directors is to secure multiple candidates for each of the three positions up for election this year.

IT IS UP TO YOU AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT!! The deadline for submittal of the required Election Nomination Form is June 30, 2008! One measurement of the quality of a professional organization, such as the Academy, is the persons who step up and take advantage of the opportunity to run for office and provide leadership to the organization.

There are three Board seats up for election. Those positions are President-Elect, Treasurer and Member-at-Large/Conferences and Communications. The President-Elect’s position is a three-year commitment (one year as President-Elect, one year as President, and one year as Past President), while the terms for Treasurer and Member-at-Large are both for two-year terms. Service in these positions begins on January 1, 2009.

The Academy’s Officers and Board Members serve as trustees to our commitment to public service as an honorable calling and to the Academy as a moral, economically viable and dynamic organization. We are committed to treating each other with dignity and respect, and we work to provide all officers and members with tools and assistance as needed to make the contributions that give meaning to service.

It is now YOUR TIME to take action and volunteer your leadership skills, talent, experience and time in service to the Academy. I strongly encourage and highly recommend you become involved and run for one of the Academy offices this year.

A Synopsis of Duties for the three positions to be filled was included in the March 2008 newsletter and can be found at: http://www.cpmacademy.org/newsletter/mar_08/election.html The 2008

The 2008 Board Nomination Form is posted on the Academy’s Web Site: http://www.cpmacademy.org/pdf/2009-Officer-Nomination-Form.pdf.

Again, all nominations must be postmarked no later than Monday, June 30, 2008.
