Possible Joint Conference with NAGTAD (2005)

Representatives of The National Association of Government Training and Development (NAGTAD), AACPM, and the National Certified Public Manager‚ Consortium are exploring the possibility of co-located NAGTAD/AACPM Conferences in NH in 2005.

New AACPM Pins

Larry Totten volunteered to pursue a new source for an AACPM pin.

Mentoring Committee

The Committee reported that the following mentoring contacts have continued: Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, and the District of Columbia Society of Certified Public Managers; Washington State CPM Program and graduating class; and the Iowa CPM Program graduating class, 2003. The first graduating class of the newly- accredited Iowa CPM Program has notified the Academy of its intention to seek Academy membership.

Strategic Plan

A copy of AACPM’s Strategic Plan (2003-2006) was given to Board members. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of AACPM’s Strategic Plan please contact Larry Totten at larry.totten@ky.gov

Integrated Marketing and Resource Catalogue Committee

This Committee has focused its efforts since the April 2003 House of Delegates on assisting a New Hampshire CPM Project Team, who is working on an Academy-sponsored project to help determine the return on investment of the CPM credential. The name of the Team’s report is "The Value of The Certified Public Manager’s‚ Education and Designation." A CD version of the Team’s report and a printed copy of the Executive Summary will be distributed to all Consortium members (1 per program) and (1) per each Society.

Publication Committee

This Committee has worked with the AACPM Board of Directors to establish a two-year publishing schedule for the Academy Newsletter (2003 & 2004). Since the April House of Delegates meeting, the Committee has engaged the Academy membership to formally name the Academy Newsletter, while also re-designing the newsletter format to be more conducive to electronic distribution. The Committee is also charged with re-designing and updating of the Academy web page as determined by the AACPM Board of Directors.

Membership Directory

An AACPM membership directory was not pursued in 2003. This is due to cost. In 2004, it is anticipated that the Academy will have a new website up and running, which will include a password-protected membership listing. Individuals who do not wish to have their name and contact information included in the web-based membership directory can opt out in accordance with the AACPM's privacy policy by informing their local society membership chairperson at the time that they renew their membership or by contacting the AACPM treasurer at eburt@nc.rr.com.

Annual Report Update

The Academy’s 2002 and 2003 reports will be combined and will be distributed to Societies at the 2004 House of Delegates (HOD) meeting in Topeka, Kansas.

Tom Patterson, AACPM Past President, indicated that the Academy’s submissions are still in process.
