Wisconsin
Society of Certified Public Managers®
The Wisconsin Society of Certified Public Managers® has set
its goals for the year and is actively working to achieve them.
Our goals include increasing membership, continuing development
of partnerships between the Society, CPM Program and other interested
organizations in providing training opportunities; continuing work
on the AACPM Annual Conference to be held in Madison in September,
2007; continuing participation in AACPM and Consortium activities;
and maintaining and enhancing partnerships between the Society and
CPM Program through participation with joint ventures.
Of particular interest is the a unique partnership being developed
between the Wisconsin Society of Certified Public Managers®
and the Wisconsin CPM Program to offer CPM certification to the
Oneida Tribe of Indians in northeastern Wisconsin. The Tribe expressed
a desire to offer comprehensive management training to its managers,
as well as others in surrounding communities in the area. To meet
this need, the Wisconsin Society and CPM Program are collaborating
to bring a specially tailored program to the Tribe over the next
two years. As Robbi Dreifuerst, Wisconsin CPM Program Associate
Director (and Vice-Chair of the National CPM Consortium) states:
"The program provides the training, while the Society provides
the logistical and onsite supporta win-win for both organizations!
An added bonus is helping the Tribe reach out to its neighbors and
build a sense of community in the area." The President-Elect
of the Society, Jeff Roemer, whose primary responsibility is to
Chair the Program/Training Committee, oversees the logistical and
onsite support. This is an excellent example of management professionals
dedicated to excellence in government working together to enhance
public service.
The Wisconsin Society is particularly proud of Ron Buchholz who
recently became President of the AACMP and Robbi Dreifuerst, Vice
Chair of the National CPM Consortium. The expertise and enthusiasm
they bring to their positions is invaluable to our program participants
and Society members. We are honored that they call Wisconsin their
home and wish them both well as they carry out their very important
responsibilities at the national level.
