Hello AACPM Members and Societies Each year brings a new beginning—holding promise for continued personal and societal growth. The Academy Board recently completed the 2005 Annual Board meeting in Oklahoma City at the state’s beautiful and recently domed capitol building. Yes, Oklahoma held the distinction of being the only domeless state capitol building for 96 years. But in 2003, the citizens of Oklahoma completed their beautiful state capitol building and topped it with a masterfully crafted dome and a finely bronzed Indian statue titled “The Guardian,” designed by local artesian and state legislator, Senator Kelly Haney. Whenever I look at this skillfully created work of art and what it stands, I also relate our roles in public service as being “guardians” to not only those we serve; but to those who place us in the roles to serve. Through these roles, the Academy welcomes the opportunity to assist societies and the public servants across our nation to become more productive and more powerful. Our organization is growing, and with this growth comes many new challenges and changes. What we learned and knew to be true as little as five years ago may not be so today.
