Society News

I am following up on my article in the Winter 2005 Edition of the “CPM Connection” newsletter. One of the most effective ways to promote the Certified Public Manager® concept and to achieve the six Objectives of the AACPM is to acknowledge, recognize and celebrate the achievements of those individual members who have made significant contributions to public manager profession, their CPM Societies, the AACPM and to their communities.

A highlight event each year at the AACPM’s Professional Development Conference is the Awards Banquet where we recognize and celebrate the achievements, successes, contributions and dedication of these individuals. Each year, we recognize individuals at the Banquet for their Board and Committee service and also present the Askew Awards, Wilkinson Scholarships, President’s Award and most significantly, the Kenneth K. Henning Award.

Even though the submittal deadline date is June 9, 2006, it is not too early begin consider nominating a deserving member of your Society for the prestigious Henning Award.

The Academy and especially the 2006 Henning Award Committee would like to see a record number of Henning Award nominations submitted this year for consideration.

It is time for each Society to give serious consideration to nominate a worthy candidate for the 2006 Henning Award. I urge you to do so and look forward to receiving a nomination for this year’s Henning Award from each CPM Society.

The Henning Award Committee administers the nomination and selection process. Click here to download a 2006 Henning Award Nomination Form. If you have any questions, contact Ron Buchholz, CPM, Henning Award Committee Chair, at 608/266-1817 or rbuchholz@commerce.state.wi.us

All nominations must be postmarked by Friday, June 9. 2006.
