Have you thought about attending one of the annual professional development conferences offered by the American Academy of Certified Public Managers®, but haven’t been able to do so? Then this may be your year!
With 2005 being a banner year in terms of finances for the Academy, the AACPM Board has approved a recommendation from the Finance Committee for a one-time effort, which will return some of the wealth, if you will, to each of our member societies.
The AACPM Board has allocated funds to provide one conference scholarship to the 18th Annual AACPM Professional Development Conference to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 10 – 12, 2006 for each of our member societies.
Each society will be able to determine how they want to use this scholarship. The society may choose to use it as an award presentation of some sort. Or they may raffle the scholarship. Perhaps, a local application & selection process will take place. Or any other means that might be determined to work best for your society.
The only stipulations for recipients of the scholarship are:
- The individual must be a member in good standing of the AACPM, and
- The individual must be a first-time attendee of an AACPM Professional Development Conference.
Each society is being provided with a scholarship for a single registration to the annual conference for an amount up to $300. The actual amount provided would be dependent on the type of registration the individual qualifies for. The AACPM will not be issuing funds directly to the scholarship recipient, but will instead be paying the Kentucky Conference hosts directly on behalf of individuals identified as scholarship recipients. The AACPM will pay the registration fee based on actual attendance at the conference.
We hope this effort sparks interest in the 2006 Conference among your society membership, and we look forward to welcoming new conference attendees to Louisville, where a tremendous conference experience will be enjoyed among the splendor that is Louisville.
Please consult with your Society to determine how the scholarship recipient will be determined in your jurisdiction. It’s not too early to begin figuring out how your Society might utilize this scholarship opportunity. Conference registrations will begin to be accepted before too long.
Society Presidents are to submit their society's chosen scholarship recipient to the AACPM by April 28, 2006.
Here’s hoping we see you in Louisville this September!
