The Arkansas Society of Certified Public Managers® held its fourth quarter membership meeting in December and hosted a drop-in Holiday Reception where Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, agency directors, legislators, and others who support the CPM program came together for great food and fellowship. Our 2008 Board was elected during the business meeting held just prior to the reception.

We are using our new Society web site www.arcpm.org to communicate meetings and information to ASCPM members and others about our Society and the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium AGM/CPM Program.

In addition to the establishment of the new Society web site, other recent Society accomplishments include:

• A comprehensive revision of Society Bylaws
• A successful Membership Recruitment Drive
• A delegation of seven ASCPM members participated in the 19th Annual American Academy of Certified Public Manager’s (AACPM) Professional Development Conference held in Madison, WI in September 2007.
• Worked to improve communication among ASCPM and AGM/CPM graduates
• Continued to update and re-design Society materials: newsletter, letterhead, membership form, certificates of appreciation, brochures, and other materials
• Society members made presentations at a variety of conferences, seminars, and functions aimed at recruiting new members.
• News releases were published to media outlets and to the Arkansas State Employees Association regarding Board members and member awards, activities, and recognitions
