Utah Society of Certified Public Managers®

As winter turns to spring, our thoughts turn to renewal and growth. In Utah, we are looking at several ways to improve our CPM society in order to provide renewal and growth to our members. The following is a brief overview of some of the initiatives we are working on.
Strategic Plan—Five years ago, Utah developed a strategic plan to guide our society and help us measure progress. That plan recently expired and we have begun developing a new five-year strategic plan to guide our organization. The first step is to form a committee, and we are asking a number of former society presidents to sit on this committee and help guide us into the future.
Continuing Education—We believe a key function of the society is to provide ongoing training for our members. Historically, this has been accomplished through monthly lunch lectures. Starting last year, we began offering Continuing Education (CEU) credits for these lectures. This is a benefit as many professional designations require a certain number of credit hours each year. We are also working to develop advanced CPM classes for graduates to help hone those skills learned in the CPM program.
Annual Conference—Utah is pleased and privileged to be hosting the 23rd Annual AACPM Professional Development Conference in 2011. We are working hard and preparing ahead to offer an outstanding conference for each of you. We can’t wait to have you join us in Utah in 2011.
