Since my last President's Message to you, and especially since the AACPM Annual Conference in Topeka, I have been reflecting upon the importance of communication and the enhanced understanding/cooperation that results from it. I have made communication a primary focus point of my service to you as an Academy Officer and as your President.
Due to the nature and geographic distribution of the Academy Members and the Member Societies, the Academy Web Site (www.cpmacademy.org) and the Academy "CPM Connection" Newsletter serve as the primary vehicles of our communication. Both the Web Page and the Newsletter were completely redesigned and expanded this last year and each contains significant amounts of information and provides valuable communication links. If you are not doing so already, please access and utilize both to their fullest extent possible.
To better determine the communication needs of the Societies and identify/evaluate alternative communication options, I established a Communications Committee during the HOD Meeting in Topeka. I thank Bill Herman, At-Large Board Member for Communications and Conferences, for chairing this important Committee. The following persons volunteered to serve on the Committee: Mark Evans (WI), Chris Grasso (FL), Mike Purcell (KS), Sandy Scallan (LA), Debbie Smith (OK, AACPM President-Elect) and Danny Weiss (DC).
