We are currently planning our first one day conference set for November 2005. The Kansas Museum of History will be the location. This location is a terrific location to hold conferences—they have excellent resources for the meeting environment as well as the opportunity to tour the museum. While outside the facility, the museum staff have continued to maintain the appearance the Kansas heritage and prairie. Our conference committee has been working hard at obtaining top notch speakers. Our keynote speaker comments will focus on issues of management, supervision, and ethics.
Kansas continues to hold membership meetings. In May, KSCPM held a joint meeting with American Society for Public Administration. The speaker at the meeting was Kansas Department of Revenue Secretary. The Secretary is a former City Mayor and member of the legislature and continues to support individuals dedicated to public service.
Our August speaker will be the Executive Director of Kansas Public Employee Retirement System.
We continue to work on community service efforts. We provided a meal to the local Ronald McDonald House Charities in Topeka. After the food preparation was completed, we toured the facility. At this time, KSCPM has elected to make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Kansas. We continue to collect aluminum can tabs for donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
