Society News

At the time of this writing, the Academy’s membership has reached 92% of its targeted goal for 2007. Nineteen member societies have reported 1,571 members, which exceeds last year’s grand total. With the annual AACPM conference just days ahead, it’s imperative that all societies submit their updated rosters so the Academy can post all its members to the national roster.

The Independent Auditor’s Review for FY 2006 was completed in July by the accounting firm Holcomb & Shreeve, CPA’s, PC, in Gilbert, AZ. The firm states in its opinion letter that “Based on our reviews we are not aware of any material modifications that should be made to the accompanying financial statements in order for them to be in conformity with the accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.” The Academy’s transition to the QuickBooks Pro financial software has proven beneficial. The Treasurer’s book-keeping duties are much more manageable and the optional annual software upgrade is inexpensive. QuickBooks also provides free software updates on–line as they become available.

In the first six months of this year, the Amazon.com referral fees paid to the Academy rose 49% over the same period last year. These fees are generated by all who use the Amazon.com link button on the Academy’s home web page. This is a great opportunity to help raise funds as the Academy receives a 5% referral fee every time a purchase is made through the link button.
