FSCPM was honored to have been recognized by Governor Charlie Crist who proclaimed August 25-29, 2008 as Certified Public Managers® Recognition Week. This is the second year that the Governor has recognized the CPM graduates, and getting this accomplished was one of our goals for 2008. I would like to thank Jan Wright for her hard work with the Governor’s office in obtaining the Proclamation. We are also working with the Governor’s Office to have the Governor present the Proclamation at the Level VIII CPM Graduation being held in Lakeland, Florida on August 26-28, 2008. There are 350 CPM students who will be graduating this year in Lakeland. This will be the largest CPM graduating class ever.

The FSCPM Website Committee, chaired by Jan Wright, is in the process of totally redoing the website. The rest of the committee is composed of CPM Members from other FSCPM Chapters. The changes are being made to the FSCPM Website to make it more “user friendly.”

Public Service Recognition Week was held May 5-9, 2008. FSCPM recognized all Public Employees by having special events during the week. The local Chapters also had many events during this time to recognize the hard work of all the Public Employees.

Christine Taylor, Chairperson for the 2009 FSCPM Conference and Awards Banquet, announced the 2009 FSCPM Conference and Awards Banquet will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Altamonte Springs on January 22-23, 2009. The registration for the Symposium is $195.00. We have some awesome speakers lined up. Bob Kodzis, with Flight of Ideas, is going to kick off the symposium followed by Dr. Groomes–McClendon. Howard Rasmussen will finish the first day with a half day workshop. Closing the Symposium will be Teri Ridler  from Sea World. To encourage more attendance at the award banquet, we are having a luncheon instead of dinner. We will have more information and the registration form available on the FSCPM.ORG website soon.
