The 2008 Charlotte Glaser Award of Merit was presented to Helen Koger with the Department of Criminal Justice Training (Richmond), Justice Cabinet, for her many years of service to the Society and the American Academy. Helen was elected secretary of our Society three times and has been a member and/or chair of many of its committees. She has helped organize our annual Society seminars and contributed greatly in 2006 when Kentucky hosted the national conference. The 2008 Gene W. Childress Award was presented to Leonard K. Cieslak with the Department of Protection and Permanency (Prestonsburg), Cabinet for Health and Family Services, for his dedication and service to the clients with whom he works and to his agency in general. Lenny is a 24-year employee who has seen his job duties expand as personnel decreased and service needs rose. Currently he is performing Safety Net Assessment for clients exiting the K-TAP program. As an example of his initiative and dedication to those he serves, he created a resource guide used by both clients and other agencies. As one associate stated, “He is always there for his clients, not doing their work for them, but inspiring them to have a better life and teaching them how to do so.”
Congratulations, Helen and Leonard! Both are richly deserving of these awards.
The KSCPM President’s Extra Mile Award recognizes those individuals who have “gone the extra mile” in a specific situation and who deserve an extra pat on the back for their outstanding performance of duties. Robinil Jamison was named the Extra Mile recipient for helping the President coordinate chapter events and activities and basically making things happen whenever it looked like they would not.

- Tony Smith - AACPM Henning Nominee from Kentucky
- Rebecca Conley - AACPM Wilkinson Scholarship winner from Kentucky
- Russell Wright - AACPM Askew medallion presented by Tony Smith for top model CPM project
