The Poem Titled “The Dash” - Copyright

In 2007 an inspirational poem entitled, "The Dash," was included in an article published in the CPM Connection. The Academy Board of Directors subsequently learned that Linda Ellis of Linda’s Lyrics (www.lindaellis.net) is the author and that she owns the poem’s copyright. The poem had been reprinted in the newsletter without obtaining the author’s permission and without crediting Ms. Ellis. Although this error was unintentional, the Academy accepted responsibility. All versions of the September 2007 newsletter in which the poem appeared were purged. A confidential settlement has been negotiated with the author so this matter has been resolved.
