The Arkansas Society is proud to announce that Governor Mike Beebe signed a proclamation that designated May 13, 2010 as Certified Public Manager® Recognition Day. This is the first time the Arkansas program has received such recognition.

Members of the society and supporters of the CPM program were present for a formal proclamation ceremony with the Governor that morning in advance of the evening ceremony at the Capitol for this year’s graduates. The proclamation is shown below and can be accessed on our website at:  http://www.arcpm.org/files/CPMDay2010GovProclamation.pdf.

President Julie Farris and Past President Becky Bryant participated in the APAC graduation ceremony in the rotunda of the State Capitol. Congratulatory letters and Society membership information packets were presented to the 22 AGM graduates and the 3 CPM graduates. Becky Bryant presented the Governor's Proclamation. President Farris presented the award for Outstanding CPM Project Plan to Nannette Harrell with the Department of Information Services. Andrea Alford, with the Real Estate Commission, received an Honorable Mention for her project plan. Congratulations to both ladies.

The Arkansas Society has also been busy with a revision to its bylaws. The changes will ultimately provide greater flexibility in addressing the goals of the Society, particularly in the area of growth. The changes were approved by the general membership at its second quarterly meeting on June 3, 2010. Work is currently underway for the development of Standard Operating Procedures.

A tremendous amount of work has gone into the planning of the Society's second annual Leadership Seminar scheduled for Thursday, October 28, 2010. This year's seminar will focus on Ethics of Leadership and Succession Planning. It will feature two dynamic speakers and an award presented by the Society to the Arkansas Public Manager of the Year.
