We Need You!

Chair, Elections Committee

The Academy is still accepting nominations for qualified, motivated, and interested candidates to run for Board positions. Elections will be conducted during the annual House of Delegates (HOD) meeting in Oklahoma City on October 20. Our goal is to secure multiple candidates for each of the three positions to be elected.
The Academy Officers and Board Members serve as trustees to our professional organization’s commitment to excellence in public service. This call to service is a unique opportunity for professional development, national networking, and making a difference through volunteer leadership. Your decision to serve can open doors to program activities, leadership on national committees as well as through governance shape the benefits received by Academy members. If you are committed to future growth of Certified Public Manager® designation, then I highly recommend you become involved by running for a seat on the AACPM Board of Directors. You can make a difference – and will be proud that you did.
Three AACPM Board positions will be elected: President-Elect, Treasurer, and Member-at-Large for Conferences and Communications. The President Elect’s position has a three year term (one year as President-Elect, one year as President, and one year as Past President), while the Treasurer and Member-at-Large positions are both two year terms. Two of the three positions have no incumbents running. There is definitely room for your name; so don’t just think about it – do it!
We need committed leaders who are champions of the CPM brand. The President-Elect position has an opportunity to shape and grow the academy into the future so it can continue to serve all our members. The Treasurer position requires some book keeping and database skills to handle Academy finances and to process society membership lists. The Member-at-Large position for Conferences and Communications serves as editor of the CPM Connection newsletter and oversees modifications to the Academy web site.
I value the relationships I have developed with every Academy officer, board member, committee, member, and Society officer with whom I have served over these past two plus years. It has been a rewarding and meaningful experience to work with these outstanding individuals. I have learned much working together with them for the betterment of the Academy and Certified Public Managers® across the nation.
Please consider volunteering your leadership skills and talents and/or encourage others you know to do so. We are a volunteer professional association. Each year we need members of our organization to step up and give back to the organization that has provided professional development opportunities to many. You can download the 2011 officer nomination form from the AACPM web site www.cpmacademy.org/publications/2011-Officer-Nomination-Form.pdf. Follow the instructions on the form and submit it to the Elections committee chair no later than 5 pm PST, Monday August 2. |
