Society News

The AACPM House of Delegates met on September 12, 2007, in Madison, Wisconsin. This was a very productive meeting. Here are the highlights:

GOVERANCE

Board of Election Committee
The HOD directed that a Special Election for the 2007 Board Officers be held between the September 12, 2007 HOD Meeting and December 31, 2007 with the results being announced no later than December 31, 2007 and with the newly elected Officers assuming their positions on January 1, 2008.

Mentoring Committee
The Mentoring Committee has focused its primary attention on the potential of establishing new Member Societies through the newly established CPM Programs accredited by the National CPM Consortium. In addition, the Committee continued to be active in communicating with current AACPM Societies, as well as CPM programs with pending graduating classes. The AACPM Board made it a priority this year to attend as many state society functions as possible.

Ways and Means Committee
The Committee will continue to develop a method to share revenues collected by sales of Academy branded merchandise to AACPM members and state Societies or Associations.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee focused its efforts in a number of areas of interest and responsibility during this past year in order to work towards some longer-term goals of the Academy.

However, of primary responsibility, the Committee’s first area of activity per the AACPM SOPs is preparing the Academy’s annual budget and audit of the Academy’s financial records.

The Academy continued the use of Kristopher K. Holcomb, CPA of Holcomb & Shreeve, and CPAs of Gilbert, Arizona for the annual CPA review of the financial records of the Academy for the past year. The results of the review of the 2006 financial records were positive.

The HOD approved a $5.00/year increase in the Academy’s individual member dues ($15.00/year to $20.00/year) effective January 1, 2009.

The HOD also approved limiting the Board’s annual total spending to 110% of the approved budgeted amount, unless prior approval is secured from the HOD.

The committee will focus its attention toward longer-term efforts of the Academy in program funding and the potential of establishing a companion non-profit entity to accept and receive funds separate from the Academy’s general fund. It is hoped that it will be finalized during the next Fiscal Year.

Strategic Plan
The AACPM Board of Directors will be considering changes to the Academy’s Strategic Plan. An electronic version of the Strategic Plan can be found on the Academy’s web site. Submit proposed changes to the Strategic Plan to Greg Hyland.

Calendar of Events
At the President’s Luncheon Meeting in Madison, Wisconsin, a calendar of events for 2008 was distributed to each Member Society.

COMMUNICATIONS

Communication Committee
Since the 2006 HOD meeting, four editions of “The CPM Connection” have been published and the Academy’s website continues to be updated with the latest information for Academy members.

Integrated Marketing and Resource Catalog Committee
The Committee will continue to develop further branding of the “CPM” credential and marketing tools for the Academy and its Member Societies. Red Luggage Grippers with “AACPM” were given this year by the committee, and supplied to each Society at the Wisconsin Conference so that every member of AACPM would receive one.
