Society News

As FY 2007 draws to a close, Member Societies are encouraged to submit any add-ons to their membership roster as soon as possible. This will ensure all members are added to the data base and listed on the “members only” page of the Academy’s web site. This year’s membership count will surpass last year’s total, but fall short of the targeted goal. Current membership stands at 1,622.

The FY 2007 budget revenues will fall short of projections due to unrealized membership growth, along with three Societies that have not paid their membership dues and assessment fees. Budget expenses will exceed those set forth by the 2006 HOD. This is primarily due to higher than anticipated Board travel expenses and the purchase of The Public Manager Magazine subscription for each Academy member.

The final close-out report for the annual conference in Madison, Wisconsin has not been submitted; however, revenues are projected to slightly exceed expenses. The WSCPM Conference Committee has repaid the AACPM the $2,000 conference advance and $2,150 for conference insurance.

On December 15, 2007, invoices for the 2008 annual assessment fee will be mailed out to all Member Societies. These fees are due and payable to the AACPM upon receipt. In addition, Societies are encouraged to submit their membership rosters for the first quarter no later than April 1, 2008.

With the holiday season upon us, I’d like to remind all members (and their family and friends) to use the Academy link to Amazon.com for their internet purchases. This is a great way to help raise funds as the Academy receives a 5% referral fee every time a person uses the link and makes a purchase. The link button is located near the bottom of the www.cpmacademy.org home page.
