The Askew Awards are presented annually to those individuals or teams selected by each CPM program, as stated on the medallion they receive, "For the utilization of management practices exemplifying the philosophy of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers® in the completion of an exceptional curriculum project." This award is named in honor of George C. Askew, a leader at both the local and national levels in the early days of the CPM organizations, and who is also recognized as the first person to receive CPM certification (by virtue of his last name beginning with A) at the first graduation ceremony in Georgia in 1976. The following individuals are the 2008 Askew Award recipients who were recognized in September at the AACPM Annual Awards Banquet.
