Those of us up here in the Wisconsin Society of Certified Public Managers® who were able to join our friends in Ohio, along with all others of you able to be in Columbus last month, gratefully thank our hosts for a wonderful time! As you can see in the photo below, our President-Elect, Lutfi Shahrani, also scored big-time, winning the New Hampshire State Basket. Thank you, New Hampshire! Also, Cathy Williquette, one of our long-standing Society members and Register of Deeds for Brown County (you've heard of Green Bay...right?) actually won our Wisconsin State Basket in absentia and will finally receive it at our Annual Meeting. Has anyone ever won a basket in absentia before?

On Friday, September 12th, several of our Society members had the honor of taking the new CPM graduating class out to lunch at a nearby restaurant and then share in their graduation ceremony in the Assembly Chamber of the Wisconsin State Capitol. We join with their families, friends and supervisors in honoring their hard work, perseverance and desire to be the very best professional public managers they can be. Congratulations to each of them!

I also had the honor of giving Sergeant Eric Schroeder the 2008 Wisconsin Askew Award, which was announced at the 20th AACPM National Conference in Ohio. Congratulations, Eric!

By the time you are reading this, we will have had our Annual Meeting in Portage, Wisconsin and there will be a lot fewer leaves on the trees up here. Watch our Web site, www.wscpm.org for more things going on up here! Best wishes, all!
