The Oklahoma Society was very busy in 2009, with 110 members participating in various events. We held three quarterly “Lunch and Learn” meetings. Joyce Smith, AACPM President-Elect, spoke on “Planning and Conducting Effective Group Meetings” in March. Glenda Russell with the Office of the Supreme Court provided “An Overview of Project Management” in June. In October, Norma Goff addressed “Taking the Sting out of Performance Appraisals.” All were well attended and included some non-OSCPM guests.

The OSCPM Professional Development Conference was held September 11, with over 300 attending. We combined this year’s conference with two service projects. Attendees were able to donate old cell phones to the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program, which turns the used phones into calling cards for our military men and women overseas. Attendees also participated in a silent auction fundraiser, which brought in more than $1,100 used to purchase 23 children’s gifts for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Other projects OSCPM took on in 2009 were public television’s 2009 OETA telethon which raised almost $7,000 for programming; 2009 Multiple Sclerosis Walk raising $1,070; Partner Conference and Quality Oklahoma Team Day.

We look forward to hosting the 2010 AACPM Conference in Oklahoma City and invite everyone to enjoy Oklahoma hospitality firsthand. Happy New Year!
